Movie Review on Pitch Black

So last night Carlos, Michael and I were working on our Math Ia and our revisions on our World Lit. essays when we became veery hungry. You see, we had been working for four hours straight without eating, and of course, we were overcome with hunger. It was to the point where we could not concentrate anymore. Thus, we decided to go to the Chinese buffet place on Dairy Ashford. After we finished eating, we also wanted to go and watch 2012. Micheal pulled out his iphone and looked at the movie times and the next showing was at 8:45. Since the movie is 2 hours and 30 minutes long, we came to the conclusion that it was too late to go see. So we decided to go to the local blockbuster and rent a movie and watch it on my awesome tv.

The movie we ended up picking out was Pitch Black ( see picture above) starring Vin Diesel. Michael recommended this movie because he said it had awesome special effects with a lot of action. The film was made in 2000 so I was pretty skeptical about renting it, but I liked all action movies that Vin Diesel is in so I thought I would like this movie as well. The movie did not disappoint. The plot is about a prisoner named Riddick who is an escape convict from one of the most renowned prisons in the galaxy and has a large bounty on his head. He is on a ship with other passengers who are going to another planet. The ship they are on unexpectedly crashes and they land on a desolated planet. As the movie progresses, the passengers find that there is a certain kind of alien race on the planet that kills humans. Also at this time, Riddick escapes. At first they believe Riddick was the one who killed people but as the story progresses they realize it is not him. To combat the aliens Riddick is forced to join forces with the other passengers. At this moment the world turns pitch black, to which the movie is named after. As the world turns black the aliens break free since they can only move when it is dark, and begin to kill the humans one by one. Riddick has a special skill however, he can see in the dark thanks to a surgical procedure he had on his eyes. He is the only one who can see in the darkness. I do not want to spoil the ending, but as you can tell the plot sets up a very interesting storyline.

Ultimately, I would give this movie two thumbs up!! It was a great movie with a lot of action and a lot of Vin Diesel being a bad-a$$. I recommend this movie to anyone who is bored one weekended, and also after you eat Chinese food. You will not regret it!!! :)

I usually don't enjoy sci-fi, but i do love Vin Diesel. So if I just come back from a Chinese Buffet (which, i just have to say, are DISGUSTING.) and i am in mood for some intense action, i may just have to pick this movie up (:
